The original clay surface tennis shoe, Spring Court was founded in 1936 by Georges Grimmeisen in France.
Grimmeisen had perfected a lightweight cotton trainer with a removable cushioned insole, four distinctive ventilation holes and a simple, easy to wear design. While technology and manufacturing methods have moved on since its inception, the brand prides itself on staying true to the understated designs at the core of the products. The brand’s seasonal collections always include the G2 (low) and B2 (high) pumps in a variety of fabrics, from conventional canvas and washed heavy twill to soft and permeable nappa leather. With this focus on subtle alterations to classic styles, it’s easy to see why spring court trainers have been spotted on the feet of everyone from Paul Mccartney to Barack Obama. Now in the capable hands of Théodore Grimmeisen, the third member of the family to helm the company, the Spring Court team are looking to develop the approach re-affirmed in 2016 on the eve of it’s 80th birthday.
